Has mascara had its day?

By Dr Imogen – White Swan Aesthetics Director

Mascara has been used to darken eyelashes and make them appear longer since the 1800’s. It is rather archaic if you think about – it is simply paint for your lashes!

Now that we have Lumigan, a prescription solution, instead of faking it we can make it! It actually makes eyelashes grow thicker, darker and longer without any need for mascara or extensions.

It is a bimatoprost solution and works by keeping eyelashes in their growth phase for longer. It was originally a treatment on the NHS for Glaucoma but when they realized the grannies and grandpas were getting the longest, most luscious eyelashes in the hospital, it was then marketed as a prescription-only eyelash lengthening solution.

In these before and after photos the eyelashes are completely natural in both photos.
